St. John’s Wort

This thesis, submitted by Leah Songhurst to the University of Exeter in 2010, delves into the history of mild to moderate depression and the use of over-the-counter (OTC) St. John’s wort during the 1990s. The research not only explores the diagnosis and definition of mental illnesses, but also raises questions about the intersection between conventional and alternative medicine.

By analyzing various printed sources, including popular media articles, scientific and medical journal publications, and self-help books on St. John’s wort, the thesis uncovers several historical themes. It challenges existing medical historical studies of depression by arguing that they have presented a linear progression of depression histories and retrospectively diagnosed depression based on similar symptoms. Instead, the thesis asserts that illness should be understood within its own historical context.

During the 1990s, standardized St. John’s wort was marketed as a natural and safe remedy with a long medical history. This thesis reveals that while the plant has traditionally been used to treat physical illnesses, a growing skepticism towards conventional antidepressants, coupled with an interest in alternative medicine, led some individuals to turn to St. John’s wort for mild mood disorders. It also suggests that lay people have a history of self-treating minor mental illnesses using preparatory and OTC remedies.

The thesis further argues that the concept of responsible self-care and self-treatment gained traction in the 1990s, encouraging the reclassification of passive, mildly to moderately depressed patients as active consumers. The popular media coverage of depression and its treatments during this time was often confusing, with depression and the use of conventional medicines and St. John’s wort sometimes presented as part of a lifestyle choice.

Lastly, the thesis contends that by the 1990s, standardized St. John’s wort underwent the same scientific and medical scrutiny as conventional medicines, blurring the boundaries between conventional and alternative treatments. It highlights how the remedy represents a situation where the distinction between the two approaches has become increasingly indistinguishable.

St John’s Wort is a widely recognised medicinal plant that has been used for centuries to treat various medical conditions. With a rich history dating back to ancient Greece, this herb has been recommended by physicians for nervous and mood disorders, kidney infections, wound healing, and even to alleviate symptoms of gout and menstrual cramps. However, its most famous use is as a natural remedy for mild to moderate depression.

St John’s Wort has gained scientific recognition in modern times, with numerous studies and clinical trials conducted to assess its effectiveness as an antidepressant. It has been found to lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol and enhance the production of a natural tranquiliser in the brain. This herb has also shown promise in treating Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS).

At our company, we take pride in crafting high-quality St John’s Wort tinctures. We ensure that our ingredients are either organically grown or wildcrafted from pesticide-free areas. Viktor Schauberger

The Life and Work of Viktor Schauberger: “The Water Wizard”

Viktor Schauberger was an Austrian forester, naturalist, and inventor who dedicated his life to studying and understanding the secrets of nature. His unique insights into the behavior of water and his innovative ideas on energy production have made him a revered figure in the fields of biomimicry and sustainable technology.

The Nature of Water

According to Schauberger, water is much more than a simple compound of hydrogen and oxygen. He believed that water possesses a vital force, an energetic quality that is essential for all life on Earth. Schauberger observed that in its natural state, water moves in a vortex motion, spiraling and twisting as it flows through rivers and streams.

The Importance of Water Vortex Restructuring

Schauberger argued that modern water management practices, such as straightening rivers and channeling water through pipes, disrupt the natural vortex motion of water. This disruption not only affects the health of aquatic ecosystems but also diminishes the energetic properties of water. To restore water to its natural state and unlock its full potential, Schauberger proposed the concept of water vortex restructuring.

How Water Vortex Restructuring Works

Water vortex restructuring involves creating a controlled vortex motion in water to mimic the natural flow patterns found in rivers and streams. This can be achieved through the use of specially designed devices, such as vortex generators or implosion turbines. These devices create a spiral movement in the water, allowing it to regain its natural energetic properties.

The Benefits of Water Vortex Restructuring

There are several benefits associated with water vortex restructuring:

  • Improved Water Quality: The vortex motion helps to break down impurities and pollutants, resulting in cleaner and healthier water.
  • Enhanced Nutrient Absorption: The swirling motion of the vortex increases the water’s ability to absorb nutrients, benefiting both aquatic life and agricultural practices.
  • Increased Energy Efficiency: Water vortex restructuring can be used to generate clean and renewable energy. The spiral motion of the water can be harnessed to drive turbines and produce electricity.
  • Environmental Restoration: By restoring the natural flow patterns of water, water vortex restructuring can help to rehabilitate damaged ecosystems and promote biodiversity.

Applications of Water Vortex Restructuring

The principles of water vortex restructuring have been applied in various fields:

  • Water Treatment: Vortex devices are used in water treatment plants to improve the quality of drinking water.
  • Agriculture: Farmers utilize water vortex restructuring to enhance irrigation and improve crop yields.
  • Hydropower: Vortex turbines are being developed as a sustainable alternative to traditional hydropower systems.
  • Aquaculture: Water vortex restructuring is used in fish farms to create optimal conditions for fish growth and health.

The Legacy of Viktor Schauberger

Viktor Schauberger’s ideas and inventions have had a lasting impact on the fields of water management, energy production, and environmental conservation. His holistic approach to understanding and working with nature continues to inspire scientists, engineers, and innovators around the world.

  • Not only does this kit help to clear the waters memory, it structures the water which means it hydrates the body as water should.
  • The combination of the precious earth Neodymium magnets and the rotating copper coil help to ionise and oxygenate the water.
  • The 12000rpm copper rotor that vortexes the water will also add trace amounts of copper to distilled water.
  • The special placement of the Neodymium magnets and the Vortex motion increases the levels of deuterium in the water.
